The main purpose of this position is to coordinate and support MBBCh student teaching and learning activities
at hospitals and Primary Health Care centres, liaise with clinical faculty, engage in student teaching, mentor
students, collaborate with other healthcare professionals, innovate teaching practices, and develop
assessment tools to ensure effective, ethical, and technologically enhanced education under the guidance of
the Director of UUME.
Additional duties are specified in the "Key performance areas" section below.

Key performance areas
Coordinate MBBCh student teaching and learning activities at designated hospitals, including monitoring and directing student teaching and learning activities.
Liaise with clinical faculty at hospitals and enhance collaboration with the Unit for Undergraduate Medical Education (UUME) to strengthen the academic programme.
Support clinicians at hospitals and PHC clinics in optimal curriculum delivery.
Engage in student teaching and learning activities at PHC centres.
Coordinate clinician faculty development activities and provide mentorship to students, supporting their academic and professional growth.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to integrate and innovate multidisciplinary teaching and clinical practices, and lead students in projects to improve healthcare delivery quality and patient outcomes.
Develop and implement assessment tools to evaluate teaching programme effectiveness, provide constructive feedback, ensure compliance with ethical standards, and promote innovative technologies in teaching and clinical practic
Minimum requirements to apply for this position:
A clinical degree (MBBCh or MBCHB)
Registered, and in good standing, with the HPCSA
A South African citizen or Permanent resident of the RSA.
A driver's license
Abilities, qualifications or experience that would be an advantage in your applicatio

Experience in teaching undergraduate medical students
Primary Healthcare experience
Any postgraduate qualifications in medical/health professions education e.g. Postgraduate Diploma or
Masters in Health Science Education
An ability to speak two or more (includes English) of the eleven official South African languages
Desirable personal abilities of the successful applicant
Passionate and enthusiastic educator who is keen to explore and develop new ideas in education.
Positive work attitude and keen to engage with students
Good administrative skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Self-motivated, able to work independently and work as part of the UUME team
Able to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
Good interpersonal skills, tactful, respectful, non-judgmental and punctual
Good problem-solving skills
