Candidates should demonstrate:
o A comprehensive understanding of Physical Education theories, pedagogical approaches, and current trends in teacher education, including knowledge of inclusive education practices and adaptive Physical Education strategies.
o Expertise in developmentally appropriate physical activities across all school phases (ages 4-18), motor development from early childhood through adolescence, and proficiency in sport-specific skills instruction and tactical understanding development.
o Curriculum development capabilities, including the ability to innovate and design Physical Education programmes aligned with national policy frameworks (e.g. CAPS), and to integrate cross-curricular themes and life skills development effectively.
o Teaching capabilities encompassing the use of various delivery modes to ensure high-quality teaching and learning experiences, proficiency in technology integration for Physical Education teaching and assessment, community engagement, school sport development, and leadership in Physical Education departments or sports programmes.
