Job Summary

The Teacher Assistant supports the lead educator in instructional, administrative, and technological tasks to improve foundational skills in reading, writing, and numeracy. This role is vital for providing one-on-one attention to learners and maintaining a safe, productive classroom environment. Inspiring minds assists the child providing one on one assistance.

Key Responsibilities

Reinforce foundational skills by assisting students with reading, writing, and numeracy. Conduct one-on-one or small group sessions for struggling learners. Assist in creating a "print-rich" environment with educational displays and learners' work. Support specialised learning interventions

Classroom & Behaviour Management:

Prepare the classroom for daily lessons and ensure all teaching materials are ready. Supervise learners during break times, lunch, and extracurricular activities. Assist in maintaining discipline according to school policy.

Administrative & Extramural Support:

Assist with marking basic classwork, filing, and data capturing.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Education:

National Senior Certificate (Matric / Grade 12) is mandatory.

SACE Registration:

While not always required for entry-level assistants, any individual performing professional teaching duties must be registered or provisionally registered with the

South African Council for Educators (SACE)

Criminal Record Clearance:

Must provide a valid Police Clearance Certificate or clear the National Sexual Offenders Register.

Skills:

Proficiency in the school's Language of Learning and Teaching (LoLT). Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, and school-specific apps). Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for community development.

Preferred Attributes (Added Advantages)

Currently studying towards a professional teaching qualification (e.g., BEd or PGCE). Possession of an ECD (Early Childhood Development) certificate (NQF Level 4 or 5). First Aid certification.
