Job Summary
Core Focus Areas

  • Assist in the preparation of all pastries, desserts, breads, and confectionery
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, food safety, and kitchen organisation
  • Support inventory management and stock control for the pastry section
  • Collaborate closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service delivery
  • Contribute to recipe development and seasonal menu updates
Minimum Requirements
  • 2-4 years' experience working in a pastry or bakery environment
  • Culinary diploma or formal training in pastry arts is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of pastry techniques, doughs, and dessert preparation
  • Good understanding of hygiene and food safety standards (HACCP)
  • Strong attention to detail and a creative approach to presentation
  • Ability to work early mornings and weekends as required
  • South African citizenship or permanent residency
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare pastries, desserts, and baked goods according to set recipes and standards
  • Ensure consistent quality and presentation of all products
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the pastry kitchen
  • Assist with stock ordering, storage, and rotation
  • Follow all health and safety protocols strictly
  • Support the Head Pastry Chef during service and special events
  • Participate in team training and development activities
