The position exists to provide professional and effective physical security coverage and response for Church properties, facilities, employees, leaders, visitors, and guests. It ensures a safe and peaceful environment where members and visitors can worship, learn, teach, pray, and participate in sacred ordinances. By maintaining security and safety standards, this role supports the overall mission of the Church and contributes to achieving area-specific goals and objectives.
Exemplify core leadership patterns by leading like the Savior, acting under the direction of the Spirit, and aligning with the Brethren.
Ensure full compliance with local laws, Church security policies, and established procedures.
Serve as a first responder to fire, medical, and other emergencies; provide first aid, CPR, or AED assistance, and safely remove individuals from danger.
Identify, manage, and respond to life-threatening or high-risk security incidents, including those requiring personal courage and quick judgment.
Manage disruptive or combative individuals appropriately, including the lawful use of restraint, searches, and detention where necessary.
Operate independently and complete assignments with limited supervision while maintaining a high standard of professionalism.
When applicable, lead, mentor, train, and evaluate other security personnel to strengthen team performance.
Oversee day-to-day security operations and develop processes and strategies to improve effectiveness.
Collaborate with the Church Security Department to assess geopolitical risks and provide area-specific security guidance and training to Church leaders and employees.
Build and maintain networks with law enforcement, embassies, NGOs, and other security professionals to support Church operations and members.
Support personal protection services for General Authorities as needed.
Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations using Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles and other best practices.
Apply sound judgment, creativity, and cultural awareness to develop effective solutions to complex security challenges.
Demonstrate urgency in resolving critical or high-priority issues.
Apply broad functional knowledge of security operations and Church-related environments.
Foster collaboration through flexibility and effective communication to achieve organizational goals.
Operate safely and effectively in threatening or hostile conditions, accepting moderate personal, legal, and reputational risk when required.
Must hold a current / valid Temple recommend and /or be worthy to possess one.
Selection for this position will be based not only on individual qualifications but also on the specific needs of the Area and the Church Security Department.
