Assistant Accountant: Projects And Grants

Job Description

Duties/Pligte
Capturing manual journals and project transactions. Collaborating with research teams to prepare and review detailed project and full cost budgets, ensuring alignment with NIPMO compliance requirements (NIPMO: National Intellectual Property Management Office). Capturing and maintaining full cost project budgets on both the financial and contracts management systems for all research contracts. Liaising regarding and dealing with financial matters relating to faculties, institutes and support environments. Providing financial advisory services to the above-mentioned environments. Monitoring compliance with financial policies and procedures. Compiling management reports on a continuous basis. Following up and allocating transactions on control accounts. Responding to and solving (walk-in, telephonic and electronic) queries regarding financial policy and procedure. Presenting formal and informal internal workshops and programmes to communicate financial policies and systems.


Vaslegging van joernaalversoeke en projektransaksies. Werk saam met navorsingspanne om gedetailleerde projek- en vollekostebegrotings voor te berei en te hersien, om belyning met NIPMO-nakomingsvereistes te verseker (NIPMO: Nasionale Intellektuele Eiendomsbestuurskantoor). Vaslegging van en bestuur vollekosteprojekbegrotings op beide die finansiele en kontraktebestuurstelsels vir alle navorsingskontrakte. Skakeling in verband met en die hantering van finansiele aangeleenthede ten opsigte van fakulteite, institute en steundiensomgewings. Verskaffing van finansiele adviesdienste aan bogenoemde omgewings. Monitering van die nakoming van finansiele beleide en prosedures. Opstel van bestuursverslae op 'n deurlopende basis. Opvolg en allokering van transaksies op kontrolerekeninge. Hantering en oplos van navrae (instap, telefonies en elektronies) in verband met finansiele beleide en prosedures. Die aanbied van formele en informele interne werkswinkels en programme om finansiele beleide en stelsels te kommunikeer.


Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
A degree in commerce with financial accounting as major,

OR

a diploma in finance (NQF 6) with financial accounting as major and five years' relevant experience. Proven experience in applying financial policies and procedures. Excellent interpersonal skills. Proven ability to function effectively as part of a team. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent computer skills (MS Excel, Word and Outlook). Sound organisational and planning skills. The ability to perform effectively under pressure. Excellent problem solving skills.


`n Graad in handelswese met finansiele rekeningkunde as hoofvak,

OF

'n finansiele diploma (NQF 6) met finansiele rekeningkunde as hoofvak en vyf jaar se toepaslike ervaring. Bewese ervaring in die toepassing van finansiele beleide en prosedures. Uitstekende interpersoonlike vaardighede. Bewese vermoe om effektief binne spanverband te funksioneer. Uitstekende mondelinge en skriftelike kommunikasievaardighede. Uitstekende rekenaarvaardighede (MS Excel, Word en Outlook). Sterk organisatoriese en beplanningsvaardighede. Die vermoe om effektief onder druk te werk. Uitstekende probleemoplossingsvaardighede.


Recommendation/Aanbeveling
Proven experience and knowledge of Stellenbosch University's (Oracle Financials Cloud), or a similar institution's, financial systems.
