Summary The Application Specialist is a field based role in Durban & will have key accountabilities for all clinical and applications aspects of the IDS portfolio within the assigned geography and provide pre-and post-sales support in an applications, training, and educational capacity.

By aligning and simplifying our work, our Integrated Diagnostic Solutions (IDS) business unit aims to drive growth and innovation around everything from integrated specimen management to diagnostic solutions.

About the role

Location: Durban

The Application Specialist is responsible for providing on-site application and scientific support to our customers in assigned territory as defined by your line manager (Public and Private pathology segment, hospitals, universities) that have BD IDS products or solutions.

Furthermore, you will support your colleagues in the field as well as external customers in scientific and application-related product questions and you will be responsible for the preparation, implementation and follow-up of product demonstrations and customer training at customer sites and the BD training facility or BD nominated site.

Main responsibilities will include:

• Instrument, applications, and product education / training.
• Present focused product training programs.
• Work closely with Management and Marketing to identify key market trends.
• Build relationships within accounts to maximize sales of a specified range of products by creating and developing xe2x80x9cBest Practicexe2x80x9d procedures.
• Support the Sales team during the pre-selling and post-selling processes.
• Attend meetings, conferences, and exhibitions.
• To prepare and deliver formal technical and/or sales presentations.

About you

• Clinical Pathology, Med Tech, or similar education background
• Application Specialist experience in the Diagnostic or Medical Device environment.
• Strong knowledge and expertise in the following - Microbiology (TB, blood stream infections, ID/AST), Molecular Biology, Laboratory Management, Cytology (will be an advantage)
