Our client is one of the leading wholesale suppliers of promotional gifts and clothing and they are looking for a Apparel Buyer (Clothing Category) to join their dynamic team. Proficiency in Mandarin and knowledge of buying from Hong Kong and China will be highly advantageous.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Selecting new products and reviewing the old
- Working with overseas suppliers, across the world
- Finding the right suppliers
- Negotiating prices
- Ensuring the products are delivered on time
- Helping to interpret reports and predicting future sales
- Pitching ideas to senior management
- Stock control
- Budgeting
- Reacting to any changes in customer demand
- Maintaining relationships with existing suppliers while seeking new ones
- Attending trade events
- Getting feedback from customers
- Matric
- Purchasing / Buying tertiary qualification (advantage)
- Previous experience in a Buying position, particularly in clothing is essential
- Buying experience from Hong Kong and China (Advantageous)
- Proficient in Mandarin (Advantageous)
- Must also be market savvy xe2x80x93 understand what is trending overseas and what will be trending in SA soon (What works, what doesnxe2x80x99t work)
