Agronomist - JhbGauteng, JHB - Northern SuburbsR 650000A well renowned FMCG Company is looking for an Agronomist to ensure a constant supply of high quality, locally grown grain products through consulting with producers and industry stakeholders.The role is based in Johannesburg, but will be required to travel to the eastern parts of the North West and the Pretoria area for operational workMinimum RequirementsBSc Agric in Crop Production and/or Soil Science (minimum requirement)Ideally two (2) yearsxe2x80x99 experience in crop productionSolid knowledge in soil science and crop managementFluent in both English and AfrikaansProficiency in MS Office and good presentation skillsEffective data processing and interpretation skillsAble to adapt to a rapidly changing agricultural environmentExcellent verbal and written communication skillsDriving licence and driving experience requiredWillingness to travel extensively in production area and work extended hours as requiredBASOS and AVCASA certification will be an added advantageKey Responsibilities:Efficiently and effectively transfer technical knowledge to commercial growers in order to maximise the profitability of productionProvide assistance, training and problem solving to producers and industry to improve yield and qualityIdentify and investigate potential new production areas to expand production footprint, mitigate risk and to optimise supply chain costAttend industry meetings and producer contact sessions as scheduledEnhance corporate image and reputation amongst all role playersIdentification of suitable emerging producers to increase our emerging farmer footprintDevelop emerging farmers to become sustainable through mentoring and training programmesAssist R&D team to identify production practices research needsSupport R&D team with execution of production practices trialsDeveloping production guidelines for new varietiesCommunication of R&D results to industryDevelopment and maintenance of producer baseMonitoring crop during growing season and consult with producers on production practicesAsses and communicate quality and production potential throughout the growing season to support the acquisition strategyReporting on intake quantity and quality as well as communication regarding quality issuesFor more information please contact:Cornie Cilliers
