The Faculty of Natural Sciences hosts nine academic departments, a School of Pharmacy and several world-class research institutes and centres. Based on a foundation of internationally-recognised quality research, the faculty is committed to learning and teaching excellence and offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in the major scientific disciplines as well as a professional degree in Pharmacy.
The Department of Statistics and Population Studies, hosted in the Faculty of Natural Sciences, offers leading programmes in the field of Statistics designed to equip and train students for an ever-changing world of work. The department seeks to appoint a Departmental Administrator to assist with all departmental administrative procedures, in order to ensure alignment and compliance with central administrative systems and procedures.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key responsibility areas:

• Academic administration and student administration;
• Enquiry management;
• Marks administration;
• Committee administration;
• Financial administration including budget administration and procurement;
• Event/Venue organisation:
• Meeting/Minutes administration;
• Human Resources administration;
• Reception duties;
• General administration and reporting including office administration, assisting with document management, liaising with service providers, etc.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 and a relevant three-year post-matric qualification with two years relevant experience OR Matric with three to five years relevant experience;
• Proficiency in computer programmes/software packages e.g. Word; Excel / MS Office Suites /Power Point;
• Administrative experience in a Higher Education environment as well as knowledge of student administration systems;
• Experience in financial administration in the Higher Education environment.

• Demonstrated communication, organisational and interpersonal skills;
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure, and to adhere to and meet strict deadlines;
• Ability to work without supervision and to pay attention to detail.
