Role Clarification & Key Performance Areas
The Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences, offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that educates the students across multiple disciplines including Accounting, Economics, Industrial Psychology (Human Resources Management), Information Systems, Institute for Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies (PLAAS), Institute for Social Development, Political Studies, Finance, Management and Entrepreneurship, School of Government (including Public Administration) and Academic Literacies Programme. The Faculty also boasts research strengths across multiple disciplines through which it impacts both policy and practice across diverse facets of business and society at large. The Faculty has developed strong multi-stakeholder linkages and meaningful interfaces with commerce, industry, civil society and government. It is a Faculty with a strong teaching and learning ethos focussing on building critical capacity in both the private and public sector.
The mission of the Department of Finance is to offer relevant world-class financial education and scholarship and promote financial literacy. Our offerings include Bachelor of Commerce modules, Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Finance, Postgraduate Diploma in Finance and Master of Commerce in Finance. The Department of Finance seeks to appoint a Administrator: Department to assist with all departmental administrative procedures, in order to ensure alignment and compliance with central administrative systems and procedures.
The successful incumbent will be responsible for the following key performance areas, amongst others:

  • Academic Administration;
  • Enquiry Management;
  • Marketing & Recruitment;
  • Marks Administration;
  • Committee Administration;
  • Financial Administration including budget administration and procurement;
  • Event Orgarnisation:
  • Meeting Administration;
  • Human Resources Administration;
  • Reception Duties;
  • General Administration and Reporting including office administration, assisting document management, liaising with service providers, e.g. Technical Services, Audio Visual Services, etc.
Minimum Requirements
  • Grade 12 and a relevant three year post-matric qualification with two years relevant experience OR Matric with three to five years relevant experience;
  • Proficiency in computer programmes/software packages e.g. Word; Excel / MS Office Suites / Power Point;
Added advantages:
  • Administrative experience in a Higher Education environment as well as knowledge of student administration systems.
Key competencies:
  • Demonstrated communication, organisational and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure, and to adhere to and meet strict deadlines;
  • Ability to work without supervision and to pay attention to detail.
