Job Description

Key Responsibilities

1. Student Welfare and Pastoral Care

Act as the

primary point of contact

for students regarding residence-related concerns. Monitor students' general wellbeing and address issues such as illness, emotional distress, or conflict. Provide guidance, support, and appropriate referrals where necessary. Promote a respectful, inclusive, and community-focused residence culture. Must have good people skills
2. Residence Supervision and Discipline

Enforce residence rules and codes of conduct consistently and fairly. Address misconduct, noise complaints, and disputes promptly and professionally. Keep written records of incidents, warnings, and disciplinary actions. Escalate serious matters to management when required.
3. Administration and Record-Keeping

Maintain accurate student records, room allocations, and rent payments. Assist with check-ins, check-outs, and room inspections. Handle basic admin tasks, including emails, notices, reports, and logs. Liaise with parents or guardians when authorised by management.
4. Housekeeping and Facilities Oversight

Monitor cleanliness and order of communal areas and student rooms. Coordinate with cleaners, maintenance, and security teams. Report maintenance issues and follow up until resolved. Ensure health and safety standards are upheld at all times.
5. Communication and Liaison

Serve as a communication link between students, management, security, and service providers. Assist in organising residence meetings, notices, and announcements. Support residence events and community-building activities when required.
Working Hours

Flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required. On-site presence is essential.
Minimum Requirements

Matric (Grade 12) minimum. Previous experience in

student accommodation, boarding, residence supervision, administration, or caregiving

. Strong organisational and communication skills. Ability to manage conflict calmly and professionally. Basic computer literacy (email, WhatsApp, simple records). High level of integrity, reliability, and emotional maturity.
