The Position:





The operational management and oversight of day-to-day delivery lecturing within the faculty of Law.

Minimum Requirements



Minimum qualification:




Masters in Law (LLM) or an equivalent qualification, but completed LLD or PhD in Law (or applicants who are currently enrolled for PhD) would be highly advantageous.

Experience:




At least five years' experience as a lecturer in the higher education industry Either demonstrated management potential or management experience of at least two years Publishing in academic journals will be advantageous

Duties and Responsibilities



Responsibilities:





As the Academic Programme Convener, you will be primarily responsible for the following:


Accountability areas - operating / financial results accountable for: + Accountable for the operational management and delivery of lecturing related to Commerce and Law programmes (lecturer performance)
+ Accountable for the performance of the community of practice and alignment with development hub
Operational process outputs: + Qualification related subject matter expertise
+ The management of academic delivery, resource planning and the management of lecturers
Management: + Budgets
- Input into academic budget
- ICA claims processing
+ Operational planning e.g., programme implementation planning and training (per mode of delivery) incl. sequence, prerequisites, etc. (academic planner)
+ Monitoring, control, corrective action
+ Reporting - regular feedback as per Program Manager requirements and Head of Programmes
+ Escalations / Decisions / Problem solving
+ Resourcing and capacity management (people; equipment)
Leadership: + Talent acquisition, selection and onboarding
+ Individual performance management - role clarity and objectives; reviews; feedback; corrective actions
+ Culture, climate and change

Functional and Behavioural Competencies



Functional competencies:




Computer literacy - well developed MS Office skills Working knowledge of learning systems (LMS) Good understanding of qualification frameworks and academic processes and governance structures Good understanding of management principles and remote managerial abilities
