Main purpose of the job
To conduct appropriate research leading to publications and projects for postgraduate students and third-stream income.
Main tasks
Lead and conduct research in the identified field.
Develop and manage a research focus area in the faculty
Supervision of post-graduate students
Contribute toward a vibrant research environment in the faculty
Subject field(s)
Research methodology (on NQF level 8 and 9)

Minimum salary scale
(Total Cost to Company): R 979 931 per annum
Note: CUT applies an internal parity model to determine remuneration that complies with the principle of "equal pay for work of equal value". Accordingly, the preferred candidate may expect an offer that is in line with their qualifications and years of similar experience. A relevant Doctorate-level degree (i.e., D Tech / PhD / NQF 10 or equivalent).
At least four years' research/teaching/lecturing experience in the relevant subject field, including experience in the management of research projects.
Proven record of 3 credit outputs (books, chapters in books, articles in accredited journals, papers published in peer-reviewed conference proceedings, patents, etc.
Proven record of eight (8) cumulative presentations/papers at conferences, of which at least one should be an international presentation/paper (international conferences held in South Africa are also regarded as international conferences).
Proven record of post-graduate students who obtained M- and D-qualifications under the supervision of the incumbent, double the number required of Senior Lecturers.
Involvement in at least one community-related research project.
Mentor experience at the supervision level (M and D students).
Additional qualifications in line within the specific field of research.
Proof of the achievement of one or more of the criteria at Associate Professor-level.
Proven record of external funding applications, awards and management.
Proof of a national and international network in the academic environment and related industry.
Research project management experience.
