Job SummaryTo find out more, click Apply or head on over to Crayon to review the full spec and applyHow you'll roleAs a WordPress developer, you will lead the planning and development of websites, collaborating closely with internal teams and third-party suppliers. Your role involves crafting a clear roadmap for website development, meeting stakeholders' needs, and ensuring timely, budget-friendly completion. Working alongside UX/UI designers, you'll ensure websites are easy to navigate and visually appealing. You'll build websites from scratch using WordPress, optimising them for performance and technical SEO. Regular backups and security measures will be your responsibility to safeguard data. Addressing any issues impacting uptime and performance, you'll monitor for security threats and resolve them promptly. Managing relationships with third-party suppliers and setting up/maintaining the Cloudflare environment are also part of your duties. Ultimately, you're instrumental in ensuring the success of the entire website development process, from planning to ongoing maintenance and optimisation.What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain web applications using PHP, HTML5, Python, JS, Django, Bootstrap, CSS, WordPress, SEO, WooCommerce, Magento, Shopify, UX, and JavaScript. (Wordpress is the core focus, the others are beneficial)
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code that meets industry standards
  • Troubleshoot and debug complex technical issues
  • Optimise website performance to ensure fast page load times and smooth user experience
  • Implement SEO best practices to improve website rankings and visibility
  • Develop and customise WordPress plugins and themes
  • Customise Magento, WooCommerce, and Shopify plugins to meet specific business needs
  • Ensure that all web applications are responsive and accessible on all devices and browsers
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging web development technologies and best practices
  • Mentor and coach junior developers as the team grows
  • Build out the business unit and offering within the business with the support of the MD and Exco team
What you'll need
  • Proven 4 years + experience in web development using PHP, HTML5, Python, Django, Bootstrap, CSS, WordPress and JavaScript
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and project management tools
  • Understanding of responsive design, website optimisation, and web security best practices
  • Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach junior developers
  • Strong understanding of UX principles and ability to create intuitive user interfaces
  • Experience with API integrations and development
  • Experience with cloud-based web hosting platforms
  • Understanding of Agile development methodologies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement new features, functionality, and design
