Wetland/aquatic Ecologist

Job Description


A medium sized Consulting company with branches across South Africa are looking to hire a Wetland/Aquatic Ecologist.

Minimum requirements:

  • Minimum of a BSc honours degree in the natural science field that incorporated some or all the following:
o Wetland and aquatic ecology, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), soil science, botany, hydrology, and environmental science.
  • At least 1 to 2 years experience in conducting infield wetland delineations and impact assessments, and aquatic studies independently with minimal or no supervision.
  • SASS5 accreditation will be advantageous, but the candidate must have experience with the methodology and aquatic assessments.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a minimum of 2years experience on the road.
  • Must be willing to travel nationally, and internationally if need be.
  • Professional registered with SACNASP (or in the process of applying) will be advantageous.
  • Have completed and passed the Tools for Wetland Assessment course through Rhodes University, or a similar wetland course through a credible institution will be advantageous.
  • Have experience in GIS work, compiling proposals and tenders, as well as conducting other environmental sector related works (e.g. ECO, compliance monitoring, authorisations) will be advantageous.
