Job Title (Job Code): Welding Monitor

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

  • To assist welding operators during the course of production activities (Repairs, qualification, WPS, WPQR, mock-ups, sub-assemblies, welding control & supervision) railway applications. In-line inspection before, during and after welding
  • To train welding operators on the requirements of products
  • Train and evaluate welding operators during qualification and at the beginning of the production phase
  • Perform inspections before, during and after welding

MAIN RESPONSABILITIES
  • Be proactive in the EHS risk situation
  • To use the safety equipment and rules defined
  • Evaluate welders and to define the necessary development plan to have the skills at right level
  • Participate to welder's review and to evaluate autonomy level of operators
  • Reinforce the welding knowledge of operators identified during the welder review
  • Understanding and application of specifications and standards of products
  • Welding qualification with welding school (management of welding qualifications)
  • Reinforce training (general or individual) in case of welding quality level decreasing
  • To realize welding mock-up requested by welding coordination
  • To work on manufacturing welding activities on bogie frame, according to the specification and standard in place
  • Participate on the working area studies
  • To be a proactive participant to transversal action in continuous improvement
  • Process as P-FMEA, APSYS, SWIP, 5S, QRDC/8D, Team 5 min meeting
MAIN REQUIRED COMPETENCES

Educational Requirements

Mandatory:
  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Qualified Artisan as Welder (Red Seal)
  • Welding Inspector Level 1 or any other formalised welding training
  • Welding Specialist / Practitioner
Desirable:
  • Visual inspecition Level 2
Experience

Mandatory:
  • 5 years minimum as a welding operator in a welding production
  • Knowledge of EN/ISO standards (EN ISO 9606, EN ISO 15085, ISO 3834, ISO 9712, etc.)
  • Technical and behavioural skills / competencies
  • Knowledge of welding processes
  • Knowledge of NDT methods
  • Knowledge of welding imperfections
Desirable:
  • Train vehicles and their components
  • Training / facilitation of operators
Competencies & Skills
  • Technical education.
  • English read, written, spoken
  • Knowledge of welding procedures
  • Process FMEA, QRQC, control plans
