About the Role
We are seeking a
Website Managing Editor
for the
Africa Youth Portal
. This part-time role offers the opportunity to lead the strategic growth of a platform that makes African policy research accessible to youth across the continent and beyond. You will play a pivotal role in content strategy, editorial quality, and audience engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the strategic development and rebranding of the Africa Youth Portal.
Develop and implement a content strategy to expand reach and engagement.
Oversee editorial production, including text, visuals, and multimedia content.
Build and maintain networks with researchers, scholars, and journalists.
Ensure technical accessibility and usability, including for low-bandwidth users.
Execute social media strategy and monitor analytics to refine impact.
Manage budgets, reporting, and project timelines.
Requirements
Bachelors degree in Journalism, Communications, Political Science, International Affairs, or related fields.
7+ years in news, policy analysis, or research, including 4+ years in digital content creation.
Strong editorial, storytelling, and project management skills.
Familiarity with African policy issues and online engagement strategies.
Fluent in English with excellent writing skills, strong verbal communication and media engagement skills.
Desirable:
Experience with web management, CMS, or design tools.
Knowledge of other pan-African languages (e.g., French, Portuguese, Kiswahili, Arabic).
