Job Description
Job Summary Qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Degree in Veterinary Science
- A background in agriculture, animal science, or a related field (preferred).
- Prior experience in livestock handling or feedlot operations (advantageous but not always required).
- Experience operating farm machinery such as tractors, loaders, and feed trucks.
- Animal Husbandry Knowledge:
- Understanding of livestock behavior, nutrition, and health.
- Ability to detect signs of illness and administer basic treatments.
- Mechanical Skills:
- Basic knowledge of operating and maintaining farm equipment.
- Ability to perform minor repairs.
- Physical Stamina:
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Capacity to lift heavy objects and perform manual labor.
- Attention to Detail:
- Accuracy in following feeding schedules and maintaining records.
- Awareness of biosecurity protocols and animal welfare standards.
- Communication and Teamwork:
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with other feedlot staff.
- Ability to follow instructions and report observations effectively.
- Passion for working with animals.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
- Willingness to work long hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by the job.
- A valid drivers license (required for operating feedlot vehicles and equipment).
- Certification in animal health or first aid (preferred).
- Knowledge of safety standards and compliance with agricultural regulations.
