Job Description
Our client in the Software sector is seeking a professional UX Designer in the Energy/IoT sector this is a contract role for 6 to 12 months.
A UX Designer in the Energy/IoT sector creates intuitive, user-centric interfaces for systems that monitor, manage, and optimize energy usage across devices and platforms. These systems might include smart meters, energy dashboards, remote monitoring systems, grid interfaces, or B2B energy management platforms.
Core Responsibilities:
- User Research & Empathy Mapping
- Conduct user interviews, usability tests, and field studies to understand needs.
- Develop personas for energy consumers, operations teams, and technicians.
- Translate insights into actionable design decisions.
- Designing for Data-Driven Interfaces
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs for:
- Energy usage dashboards
- IoT device control panels
- Alerts and anomaly detection interfaces
- Mobile apps for smart home/industrial use
- Key Skills:
- Design Tools: Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, InVision, Axure
- Research Methods: Journey mapping, contextual inquiry, usability testing
- IoT/Tech Literacy: Understanding of sensor data, control systems, real-time monitoring
- Domain Knowledge: Energy consumption behaviour, smart grid, renewable integration
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in UX Design, HCI, Interaction Design, or related fields.
- 3-5+ years of UX/UI design experience, preferably in complex or technical domains like energy, IoT, or industrial systems.
- Portfolio demonstrating work on data-rich, high-utility interfaces.
