Utility Recovery Controller - Retail/Commercial Property Sector

About the Role:
We are recruiting a Utility Recovery Controller for a new retail development opening end of October. This is a newly created position, with the successful candidate expected to start by September.
You'll play a pivotal role in the Utilities Department, overseeing and supporting processes that ensure accurate utility recoveries, billing, and reporting across retail and commercial properties.
Key Responsibilities:
Review utility meter readings via smart meters or manual inputs
Export and validate monthly utility billing files from meter reading software
Code mapping and upload of utility files into MDA/MRI
Pre-billing verification to ensure completeness and accuracy
Upload final tenant utility slips into the system
Compile monthly Net Utilities Reports for management
Track tenant movements and action meter reading changes accordingly
Review and reconcile municipal accounts, resolve billing discrepancies
Submit expense approvals and payments for municipal bills
Monitor meter reading service providers and enforce SLAs
Minimum Requirements:
5+ years experience in retail/commercial utilities administration
Experience with MDA or MRI systems (advantageous but not essential)
Strong numerical aptitude and financial skills
Familiarity with municipal utility regulations
Computer literate and tech-savvy
Fully bilingual (Afrikaans & English) - verbal and written

Excellent client service and communication skills
Strong problem-solving and planning abilities
Able to work under pressure and adapt to change
Willingness to work overtime if required
Qualifications:
Senior Certificate (essential)
Diploma or Degree (preferred, but not required - experience is more important)
