Job Description

A well - established casket manufacturing plant seeks to employ the services of an experienced , qualified upholsterer .

Job duties and function include;

Ensure that the senator and emperor centre panels are upholstered according to the correct quality standards and specification. Assist on the cutting table with the laying and cutting of the required job specifications. Ensuring necessary personal protective equipment is used at all times. Working in other departments when required Working to required production targets. Follow all safety precautions. Ensure housekeeping is of an acceptable standard. Ensuring daily maintenance of all tools, equipment and machinery. Making sure that all work is carried out to required quality standards & specification. Adhering to all company policies & procedures at all times Study work orders to determine the amount and type of materials required to cover work pieces Follow sketches, patterns or blueprints to indicate cutting lines on fabrics using chalk or pencil Measure and cut materials using manual or automated cutting instruments Confer with supervisor prior to upholstery to determine color, style, and fabric Ensure production is completed before set deadline Work with tools and materials such as glue, staples, saw, cement, tacks and nail guns Secure work pieces and materials onto production equipment Conduct routine maintenance of work tools and upholstery machine Replace defective or worn out upholstery spring, webbing etc Interpreting design orders and creating upholstery stencils. Measuring and cutting leather or fabric with the aid of design stencils. Installing foam and backing to the framework. Stretching out and installing fabric or leather coverings. Stitching, gluing, and nailing fabric into place. Smoothing out imperfections. Conducting quality checks on completed orders. Wearing the correct PPE whilst at work and at the workstation
Educational requirements

Grade 12

4/5 years Proven experience working in sewing, upholstering , manufacturing, or production environment.

Tertiary qualification in Sewing and Upholstering an added advantage

Ability to handle heavy equipment and perform heavy lifting on a regular basis

Able to speak, read, and write English
