Remote Bookkeeper (South Africa-based) - UK HMO Lettings Agent

remote Bookkeeper

to join our finance team and help us maintain accurate, timely accounts across our portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain accurate bookkeeping records for multiple HMO properties. Record and reconcile rent received, landlord payments, contractor invoices, and utilities. Prepare monthly landlord statements and management fee reports. Assist with the reconciliation of client money accounts in line with UK compliance. Support with VAT returns and preparation of year-end files for UK accountants. Liaise with UK-based team members, landlords, and suppliers as needed. Ensure all records are accurate, organised, and compliant with UK accounting practices. Protect tenant deposits Dispute any deposit claims Manage the utility payments and pass on charges to both landlords and tenants where applicable.

Requirements

Based in

South Africa

, with a reliable internet connection and remote-working set-up. Proven experience as a

Bookkeeper

, ideally within the property or lettings sector. Proficiency with Xero accounting software Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and reconciliations. High attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Desirable Qualifications

SAIPA / ICB / ACCA / CIMA part- or fully-qualified, or equivalent bookkeeping qualification. Prior experience with

HMO or property management bookkeeping

(client money handling, rent reconciliations, landlord reporting).
