Purpose of the Job

The role involves a combination of tyre maintenance, workshop support, and washbay duties to ensure efficient vehicle upkeep and operational readiness. Key responsibilities include stripping and fitting tyres, maintaining correct tyre pressures, conducting tyre surveys, and attending to on-site tyre and mechanical breakdowns. The individual supports mechanical repairs and services, assists in managing parts and stock, and maintains cleanliness and organization within the workshop, tyre bay, and wash bay areas. Adherence to safety, hygiene, and company dress code standards is essential in all aspects of the role.

Key Responsibilities

General Tyre duties

Strip and fit tyres Maintain tyre pressures Clean workshop & tyre bay tools Drive to site and attend to breakdowns, mechanical & tyre breakdowns Do tyre surveys Ensure smooth tyres are changed Complete tyre change slips Ensure that wheel nuts are torqued Maintain tyre stock

General workshop assistant duties

Assist with mechanical repairs, services, maintenance, and breakdowns Assist in all workshop-related functions Complete job card service schedules and parts listing as required Assist with controlling spare parts and tyre stock Housekeeping workshop, parts, tyre stores, and wash bay Assist in relevant operations/operational functions as required

Wash bay Duties

Ensure that vehicles are washed and cleaned Ensure the dress code is in accordance with company Standard Operating Procedures Maintain housekeeping standards on a daily basis Ensure standards of Health and Safety are maintained

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 (Matric) Mechanical & Tyre industry experience

Skills Required

Able to apply basic Health and Safety procedures relevant to workshop operations Tyre fitting and removal Tyre pressure management Stock Handling skills Problem solving skills Effective communication skills
