ob Purpose

The Transport Controller will be responsible for coordinating and managing all outsourced transport providers to ensure the efficient, safe, and cost-effective movement of goods to and from the warehouse. The role focuses on planning, coordination, compliance, and performance monitoring of subcontracted transporters in line with operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate and schedule daily transport requirements with approved outsourced transporters Allocate loads to subcontractors in line with operational priorities and service-level agreements (SLAs) Communicate delivery instructions, routes, and timeframes to transport providers Monitor vehicle movements and delivery status and follow up on delays or deviations Ensure accurate receipt and return of transport documentation (delivery notes, PODs, weighbridge tickets, trip sheets) Liaise closely with warehouse operations, clients, and transport providers to ensure smooth dispatch and delivery Monitor transporter performance against agreed SLAs (on-time delivery, turnaround time, compliance) Escalate service failures, delays, or non-compliance to management Ensure outsourced transporters comply with safety standards, site rules, and legal requirements Report incidents, damages, or losses and assist with investigations Maintain accurate transport records, reports, and reconciliations Assist with transport cost control and verification of transporter invoices

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 (Matric) Certificate or diploma in Logistics, Transport Management, or Supply Chain (advantageous) Minimum 2-3 years' experience in a transport coordination or logistics role using outsourced / subcontracted transporters Knowledge of warehouse and distribution operations Basic understanding of transport legislation and safety compliance Computer literacy (Excel, email, transport systems)
