We're recruiting a Trading Accountant for a confidential commodities business that requires strong control, reconciliation discipline, and confidence working with brokers, counterparties, and internal trading teams.

Our client is a privately owned commodities and trading business operating within a regulated environment and handling physical product flows, broker-managed trades, and multi-currency settlements.
They run a lean finance function with strong controls and expect hands-on ownership rather than layered approvals. Accuracy, integrity, and reliability matter more than titles.
The Opportunity:
As Trading Accountant, you will take responsibility for end-to-end financial control over trading activity, ensuring that trade data, broker statements, supplier balances, and internal records are fully aligned.
You'll work closely with trading and operations colleagues, acting as a key control point between execution and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate financial control over daily trading activity
• Reconcile trade data to broker and counterparty statements at transaction level
• Monitor margin and collateral requirements and provide cash-flow input
• Reconcile multi-currency accounts linked to trading activity
• Track physical deliveries, over/under positions, and timing differences
• Reconcile supplier statements and manage delivery variances
• Prepare month-end trading control packs for review and sign-off
• Support sales invoicing linked to trading activity
• Ensure completeness and integrity of trade documentation and records
• Work closely with trading colleagues to resolve discrepancies quickly
• Support audit processes with clear control evidence and reconciliations

Background & Experience:

• Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
• 3-6 years' experience in trade finance, trading support, or finance operations
• Exposure to broker reconciliations, trade control, or commodity-linked accounting
• Comfortable working with high-volume transactional data
• Strong reconciliation and analytical skills
• Experience with ERP or accounting systems (evolution-type systems advantageous)
• Strong Excel capability (lookups, pivots, reconciliation models)
