About the Organisation
Our client is a privately backed energy developer and asset owner active in large-scale infrastructure and power projects.They operate across multiple stages of the project lifecycle and are expanding their involvement in energy storage, grid support technologies, and hybrid generation systems.
The Opportunity
You will act as the internal reference point for all matters related to storage system design, integration, and performance.
Rather than managing people directly, you'll influence outcomes by:

• defining technical standards,
• validating design decisions,
• challenging assumptions,
• and ensuring storage solutions are technically robust, commercially viable, and future-proof.

You'll collaborate closely with commercial, development, permitting, and delivery teams - providing engineering clarity where decisions have long-term financial and operational consequences.
Key Focus Areas

• Define technical architectures and specifications for utility-scale and grid-connected energy storage systems
• Provide engineering input into investment models, feasibility studies, and bid strategies
• Review and interrogate supplier proposals, EPC offers, and OEM performance guarantees
• Assess technical risk, degradation assumptions, availability models, and lifecycle cost impacts
• Support permitting and site development with technical justification and system layouts
• Contribute to system integration strategies for hybrid facilities (storage + generation)
• Identify and validate performance improvement opportunities across operational assets
• Maintain awareness of technology trends, supplier movements, and pricing dynamics

Background & Experience

• Degree in Electrical, Mechatronic, or Power Engineering (or closely related discipline)
• 8+ years' experience in power generation, infrastructure, or energy systems
• Minimum 4-5 years' direct exposure to battery energy storage projects
• Strong understanding of how technical design choices affect commercial outcomes
• Experience working across project development, procurement, and delivery interfaces
• Comfortable engaging with OEMs, integrators, consultants, and contractors at senior level
• Strong analytical capability with the confidence to challenge external advice
