Trackmaster - Ticket 36710 Submit only Operating Division:Transnet Freight Rail Employee Group:Benefits Department:123456 Location:Sentrarand Reporting To:Track Inspector Position Purpose Ensure safe and affordable railway operation by executing activities and directing resources related to track maintenance. Optimization of a work group doing and maintenance, rehabilitation and repairs of track infrastructure over a specific geographical area to prescribed quality and safety standards. Position Outputs Receive plan maintenance orders (based on the field inspection conducted) from the track inspector on the conditions of the track and other parts of the track to determine if there are any defects or deviations from the maintenance standards and norms.Responsible for the execution of supervision of the track maintenance according to the maintenance plan and train/operational plan.Controls and issues detonators (Classified i.t.o Explosives Act) to ensure compliance to explosives act and operational safety procedures.Performs various administration duties of moderate complexity to ensure proper control of the work processes and resources.Supervises and conduct performance assessments for all directly assigned personnel to ensure proper management of the human capital and availability of required competences.Day to day care and servicing of vehicle and equipment according to company policy and procedures.Protect the track during maintenance according to the protection rules and procedures.Performance physical maintenance of the track under supervision of the Track Inspector.Develop, coach and mentor junior staff and trainees.Communicate regularly with Train Control Officials. Qualifications and Experience Grade 12 with Mathematics and/Science OR Alternatively, the applicant must have been trained and obtained the following from SoR: 1. Track Master Certificate 2. Train working rules 3. RRV certificate/Trolley certificate and road Knowledge will be an advantage 4. Undergo theoretical and practical training to be certified as competent to perform Track Master duties independently. Must complete 210 days On the Job training which forms part of the Training for the Track master certificate.
