Abaqulusi Private Hospital is seeking a dynamic and experienced Theatre Unit Manager to lead our skilled surgical team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the theatre unit, ensuring clinical excellence, patient safety, and optimal resource utilization. This role calls for a passionate leader with strong clinical knowledge and proven management abilities in a private healthcare setting.

1. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

Provide leadership and operational management of the theatre department to ensure smooth and efficient functioning. Ensure adherence to all clinical, operational, and quality assurance standards in line with hospital policies and legal requirements. Manage staff performance, training, and development to maintain a high level of competence and motivation. Monitor and manage theatre budgets, equipment, and consumables effectively. Collaborate with surgeons, anaesthetists, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure the highest standards of patient care. Uphold infection prevention and control standards at all times. Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations. Drive continuous improvement initiatives and foster a culture of excellence and accountability within the unit.
REQUIREMENTS

Registered Nurse (General, Theatre Technique qualification advantageous) with the South African Nursing Council (SANC). Minimum of 5 years' experience in a theatre environment, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role within a private hospital. Strong clinical and technical knowledge of surgical procedures, theatre protocols, and infection control standards. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Sound financial acumen and ability to manage budgets and resources effectively. Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities under pressure. Commitment to patient-centered care and professional ethics.
QUALIFICATIONS

Diploma or Degree in Nursing (essential). Post-basic qualification in Operating Theatre Nursing Science (advantageous). Management or Leadership qualification (advantageous). Current registration with SANC.
