To succeed in this role, you need a strong academic foundation and professional credibility. A National Diploma in Biomedical Technology or a Bachelor of Health Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences is essential, along with HPCSA registration as a Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist specialising in Histopathology Technique. These qualifications ensure you have the depth of knowledge to guide others with confidence and clarity. Experience matters because it brings wisdom and perspective. You should have at least
three years
of hands-on experience as a Technologist within a Histopathology laboratory environment. This background will allow you to connect theory with practice and mentor others through real-world insights.
Skills Requirements
This role calls for a blend of technical and interpersonal skills. You need to be comfortable with technology, able to use computer systems effectively, and confident in performing intermediate numerical calculations. Communication is key, you must read, write, and speak English fluently to engage learners and share knowledge clearly. Most importantly, you should have the ability to apply training techniques that make learning practical, engaging, and impactful.
