Purpose of Job

Provide technical expertise pertaining to product value optimization, total product quality management and all related equipment across the Sasol Energy Business supply chain in support of the Mobility and Customer Experience (MCX) OME.

Support the MCX Operations team with technical investigations and identify which are product quality related incidents, issuing stop-trading instructions and facilitating site rehabilitation when required.

Execute technical product roadmaps to continuously update the business product range in line with the prevailing marketing strategy and provide differentiating and/or cost optimisation options.

Identify opportunities and guide business partners to develop and implement technical product solutions related to forecourts, commercial fleet installations, depots and gantries.

Develop technical marketing material and product proof points to support and enable onboarding of new customers.

Develop, update and present yearly training programs to account managers (Retail and Commercial), engineers (Retail, Commercial and Construction), depots (FDO and dosing contractors) and various training department.

Provide operational support to the Mobility Solutions and Maintenance and Project portfolios. This includes but is not limited to overseeing the assessment and auditing of equipment and procedures, review current technologies being used and recommending alternative/optimised solutions.

Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities

• Responsible for the overall management of product quality across the Sasol liquid fuel supply chain (exit refinery). Product quality must be monitored and controls put in place to assure fit-for-purpose product (exit nozzle). This requires proficiency with tools such as technical audits, bow-tie analysis, compilation of KUEs, root cause analysis, compilation of standard operating procedures etc. Product quality deviations must be formally documented, investigated and rectified as a priority. xe2x80xa2 Collaborate with the larger Energy Business as a customer-facing Technical Advisor responsible for the resolution of Sasol retail customer complaints and enquiries. This requires frequent interfacing with customers, retailers, workshops and several internal Sasol stakeholders. xe2x80xa2 Frequently travel across South Africa to perform site audits at Sasol forecourts, depots and suppliers. xe2x80xa2 Take the lead as technical expert in various forums, many of which will have a non-technical audience. Effectively translate and incorporate technical concepts in the larger retail business. Cognizance of general engineering principles, techno-economic feasibility and SHERQ limitations must be incorporated. xe2x80xa2 Act as a Sasol brand ambassador during frequent interaction with both internal and external stakeholders. This requires excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to handle conflict situations in a professional manner. xe2x80xa2 Provide expert technical support to the Maintenance and Property Development fraternities, related to the optimal design, construction, operation and maintenance of Sasol's liquid fuel supply infrastructure (tanks, pumps, pipelines, instrumentation, etc.). xe2x80xa2 Provide expert technical support to the Retail Operations fraternity (responsible for operating all the Sasol forecourts in South Africa) for day-to-day troubleshooting and problem solving to ensure business continuity and optimization of the retail business. xe2x80xa2 Provide technical support to the Outbound Logistics fraternity (responsible for transport, storage and distribution of fuel products between the refinery and the Sasol forecourt). Engineering knowledge of aboveground storage tanks, pumps, hydraulics and instrumentation will be beneficial. xe2x80xa2 Stay abreast of industry best practice, relevant design standards and legislation related to the South African fuel industry. Effectively incorporate these inputs into the design, construction, operation and maintenance of Sasol forecourts using business development tools. xe2x80xa2 Support the development of technical marketing material related to Sasol's energy products. Technical understanding of internal combustion engines, sustainability concepts and fuel technology must be applied to support the Marketing fraternity xe2x80xa2 Continuously improve the Sasol fuel retail business by identifying business improvement opportunities, initiating/conducting formal research studies, technical landscaping, reducing cost of ownership, new product development and customer centric service offerings. xe2x80xa2 Engage with the Applied Research and Technology fraternity to initiate, manage and track research projects via a stage gate model to resolve technical challenges in the MCX retail space. xe2x80xa2 Responsible for product development, formulation of technical solutions and optimization of opportunities and current technologies pertaining to the Mobility Solutions, Maintenance and Project, CDF portfolios Examples: road tanker tech, LCC, Gantry tech, Metering, Vehicle tech, Forecourt, Additive dosing etc xe2x80xa2 Identify and stage new projects to; identify new markets for existing products, new markets for new products and optimise existing products and related equipment. Initiate and contribute to improved customer total cost of ownership. xe2x80xa2 Support the Mobility Solutions BU with the roll out and/or implementation of solutions developed and/or recommended based on technical research activities.

Formal Education

4-year degree; B Eng preferred, Hons in Science or equivalent will be considered (Post graduate qualification preferred)
