WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Functional Strategy Formation:
Lead the development and implementation of strategy for a business area or significant function, anticipating mega-trends and complex challenges and opportunities and ensuring integration with wider corporate strategy. Lead or support cross-disciplinary teams in designing and implementing technical accounting projects, including changes to accounting standards and accounting policies.
Financial Policies, Guidelines, and Protocols:
Lead and coordinate the development and delivery of financial policies, guidelines, and protocols across the business to ensure the company complies with regulations and good financial practice. Create a plan to deliver and review financial policies, guidelines, and protocols to ensure the company complies with IFRS 17.
Policy Development and Implementation:
Develop strategic organizational policies for an extensive area of the business.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Identify and manage stakeholders up to and including the C-suite, finding out their needs, issues, and concerns and reacting to them by leading and coordinating the development of stakeholder engagement plans to support the communication of business information and decisions. Head up the TOPP Saica program in RMA for the development of CA(SA)'s. Coach, train and mentor young financial accountants in the technical competencies. Build relationships to gather information to meet technical accounting requirements.
Information and Business Advice:
Provide authoritative specialist advice to the leadership team of a medium-sized international organization to guide the implementation of policy and the design and implementation of projects and change initiatives.
Policies and Procedures Development:
Lead the development of policies, procedures, and related guidelines for a business area or significant function, ensuring integration with the broader corporate policy framework and compliance with national legal and regulatory requirements. Prepare and review interim and year-end Group reporting submissions for compliance with IFRS. Engage with Group Finance to ensure that accounting policies are appropriate.
Performance Management:
Manage and report on the performance of the function/business area; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports and hold individuals accountable for achieving them; take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of annual business objectives. Deliver small- or medium-scale projects specific to technical accounting requirements.
Organization Structure:
Define the detailed organization structure for a business area to align with corporate principles, define the relationship between elements of the organization, and define the responsibilities of senior managers, to enable the organization to achieve its business objectives.
Corporate Representation:
Represent the organization or institution in a variety of industry, institutional, and/or professional forums, boards, and committees, in order to promote the company or institution brand or efforts. Represent the organization in external relations with investors, clients, industry, partners, the public, and others.
Workflow Management:
Work within established systems to provide general support within a specialized area of audit control.
Compliance Management:
Stays up-to-date with accounting developments and proactively manages the impact of such developments on the business. Provides training in technical accounting matters to operational finance teams where appropriate.
