About the role

We are currently on the lookout for a dedicated Continuous Improvement Lead to work at our offices in Capricorn Park, Muizenberg in the Western Cape Province. This role will report to the Site Manager.

The successful incumbent will be responsible in coordinating the effective execution of lean manufacturing on site and ensuring adherence to Orica's safety controls and standards.

Additionally, this position will assist the manufacturing department when needed by assembling, testing, and inspecting electronic components and products. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and adherence to quality standards in a manufacturing environment.

The suitable candidate is integral to driving efficiency and effectiveness in processes and operations, contributing to the overall success and compliance of the site.

What you will be doing

• Developing and implementing a continuous improvement strategy aligned with the overall business goals and objectives;
• Collaborating with the management team to identify key areas for improvement and establish improvement targets;
• Conducting thorough analysis of existing processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement;
• Leading initiatives to streamline workflows and eliminate non-value-added activities;
• Utilising data analytics and performance metrics to identify trends, assess process performance, and drive data-driven decision-making;
• Providing training and guidance to employees at all levels on continuous improvement methodologies;
• Implementing and communicating effective change management strategies to ensure safe and smooth adoption of new processes and practices;
• Identifying opportunities for the integration of new technologies and automation to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention;
• Identifying and assess potential risks associated with process changes and implement risk mitigation strategies;
• Maintaining accurate documentation of processes, changes, and improvements.
• Ensuring all activities are conducted at or above Orica's standards.

What you will bring

• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certified or other continuous improvement methodologies;
• Proven experience in leading continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing or electronics environment;
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• 1 - 3 years experience in the manufacturing environment;
• SAP knowledge is recommended.
