Role Overview

The Team Lead will play an important role in ensuring individual engineers align to and adhere to processes and SLAs. This role will serve as the primary point of contact (POC) for 2U full-time employees (FTEs) related to the functions of Support Engineering, Quality Engineering (QE), and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). The Team Lead will also collaborate closely with 2U counterparts to ensure adequate business context, access, and oversight for successful execution.

Key Responsibilities

Act as primary POC for 2U FTEs across Support Engineering (SE), Quality Engineering (QE), and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) functions. Ensure alignment to engineering processes and adherence to SLAs. Collaborate with 2U counterparts (primarily ZA-based) to ensure teams have necessary business context and system access. Create mechanisms for monitoring and tracking SLAs using Jira and other systems. Identify areas for improvement through process mapping, root cause analysis (RCA), and data analysis.

Requirements & Skills

Leadership & Communication

8-12 years of engineering management experience in a global team. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Technical Experience

8-12 years of proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role. Solid understanding of relational databases and SQL (Snowflake and Redshift). Familiarity with Linux commands and bash scripting. Experience with infrastructure automation (Terraform). Familiarity with containerized services (Docker and Kubernetes). Experience with Agile software development practices. Knowledge of AWS concepts, including storage, networking, and firewalls. Understanding of modern ETL/ELT tools such as Airflow and dbt. Build and optimize data models within the Snowflake data warehouse. Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to meet data requirements. Implement data quality checks and monitoring for data accuracy and reliability. Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues. Contribute to data engineering best practices. Stay up to date with the latest data engineering technologies and trends. Self-directed with a bias toward action and a consistent record of results.
