Title Support Technician AV/VC - Port Elizabeth



The position requires the successful candidate to install, supply, and support audiovisual systems for various commercial organizations across different business sectors. This includes working on innovative and large-scale projects for high-profile clients, ensuring daily support and maintenance. You'll be responsible for end-to-end system support, including event support in Auditoriums and remote support on platforms like Blue Jeans and MS Teams Live. Your role is crucial for the success of AV and VC projects and the overall success of the company. You'll oversee the commissioning process, analysing, documenting, and implementing best practices while ensuring proper user acceptance testing and documentation. Candidate will be based onsite at the client.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

AVVC Engineer

  • Address customer queries within the agreed time frame.
  • Meet requirements for first-time-fix rate and recall rate.
  • Maintain customer relationships.
  • Be proactive in handling assigned calls.
  • Follow procedures provided by the Field Service Manager for quality compliance.
  • Manage sufficient boot stock.
  • Complete administrative tasks within policy time frames.
  • Act on and close new calls within agreed service levels.
  • Provide technical support, maintenance, and troubleshooting for AV and VC equipment.
  • Commission and ensure high-quality audiovisual installations.
  • Create system configuration documentation and ensure operational AV systems.
  • Conduct quality checks on installations and collaborate with the installation team and project manager to resolve issues.
  • Handle fault finding and technical resolution during commissioning and post-installation.
  • Collaborate with programmers and clients to establish control system requirements.
  • Perform off-site and on-site testing and configuration.
  • Identify and resolve programming issues in software control systems.
  • Provide system training to end users.
  • Conduct maintenance visits and offer technical support to colleagues.
  • Communicate effectively with peers, management, and customers.
  • Review and update technical documents and create reference materials.
  • Mentor junior audiovisual engineers and trainee commissioning engineers.
  • Provide support and moderation for events on web-based broadcasting platforms.

  • coordinating with others, including the technical manager & operations manager, you will be part of the team delivering first-class Support in an economical and timely manner.
  • The position supported by and will be collaborating closely with multiple parties including Networking teams, Vendors, programmers as well as Facilities management teams to Support our client to the best of our abilities.
Core Role:
  • To provide end-to-end system Support as well as Event Support in Auditoriums and Remotely on Blue Jeans / MS teams Live and to ensure a wide range of integrated audiovisual and video conferencing technologies are maintained at all of the client sites that have been specified.
  • The role will have a major input to the success of a new AV or VC project and will play a pivotal role in the future success of the company. You will take ownership of the delivery of the AVVC systems commissioning process, both on the projects you are assigned to and generally, analyzing, documenting and implementing best practices for commissioning and pre-commissioning work with the correct User acceptance testing documents signed by the relevant parties.
Main Duties:
  • To commission and quality assure audio and audiovisual installations to an excellent standard.
  • Producing system configuration documentation and ensuring fully operational audiovisual systems.
  • To perform quality assurance checks on installations and identify any issues that need resolving, and work in close collaboration with the installation team and the project manager to ensure they are resolved.
  • Responsible for fault finding and technical resolution during the commissioning phase, escalating to third parties where necessary as well as on a continual basis after installation is completed.
  • To collaborate closely with the programmer, and the client, in order to establish and share the brief for the control systems.
  • Conducting off site and onsite testing and configuration.
  • To work through software control systems to identify programming snags.
  • Delivering system training to end users when newly installed systems are introduced.
  • Perform maintenance visits, on-going technical support and providing advice and information to colleagues in the support team. (Preventative maintenance is completed daily and weekly)
  • To communicate effectively to peers, management, and customers.
  • Review and update system schematics, cable schedules etc.; create O&M documentation and as builtxe2x80x99 versions of the technical documents for future internal reference.
  • The development of junior audiovisual engineers / trainee commissioning engineers.
  • Feedback to systems design team regarding products and design, and any other lessons learned on a project. Skills,
  • Supporting and Moderating events through multiple web-based broadcasting platforms such as Blue Jeans, MS Teams and even Zoom.
Knowledge and Experience:

  • Skills and experience that make you proficient in commissioning modern audio, videoconferencing, and AV systems as well as the support of the systems thereafter.
  • An understanding of the end-to-end complexities of an audiovisual and video installation project.
  • A proven history in field-based audiovisual commissioning tasks, maintenance and operation.
  • IT Network knowledge: an understanding of AV and VC systemsxe2x80x99 integration with existing IT systems is essential. (Such as MS Teams and Office 365)
  • Soft skills to support High profile individuals both remotely and face to face when support is needed.
Other Requirements:
  • Worked as an AV support technician within the corporate environment.
  • The ability and presence to liaise with clients at senior and Exco level, external consultants, third parties such as main contractors, distributors and manufacturers as well as project consultants.
  • An above average level of understanding of audio, audio signal flow.
  • A selection of current, relevant industry manufacturer accreditations. (Polycom, Crestron, AMX, Microsoft Teams Rooms etc)
  • The ability to program Sound structure, BSS, Video Conferencing systems, and basic Extron/ Crestron/AMX programming is a benefit.
  • A full driverxe2x80x99s license.
  • Offer will be subject to recruitment screening to have a clear credit and criminal record.
ACCOUNTABILITY
  • Ensure smooth operation of AVVC equipment's.

  • Internal (Rework Centre, PCRs, IMC, Business Optimisation, Fleet Management, Telecoms and Field Service Managers, Service agents)

  • Customers and Vendors for AVVC supported equipment

  • Polycom, Crestron, AMX and Extron Certifications will be advantageous.
