Job Description

Minimum requirements for the role:

• Minimum matric and a procurement or related qualification is preferred.
• Previous experience having worked in a buyer role procuring raw materials or related products internationally is essential.
• Procuring previous chemical raw materials within the pharma or nutraceutical, packaging/glassware or related industries internationally having worked for a distribution company is preferred.
• Previous experience negotiating and on-boarding new suppliers would be an added advantage.
• Computer literacy with intermediate Excel skills is essential.
• Previous experience working on sage is preferred but not essential.
• Must have a strong understanding of the procurement market and cost drives.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Negotiating, managing, and strategically procuring raw materials internationally for this manufacturing and distribution company.
• Tracking orders and coordinating the material qualification process and final implementation thereof.
• Signing off on any price queries and taking them up with suppliers.
• Attending S&OP meetings to track issues regarding the supply chain.
• Checking that credits are passed for foreign suppliers on rejected materials.
• Managing price negotiations with suppliers on product portfolios.
• Updating pricing and vendor changes on the system.
• Working closely with the planning team to ensure that stock forecasts are correct.
• Negotiating cost-effective materials, gaining cross-functional team approval, and establishing implementation plans that support the company's objectives with regard to product quality and cost-effectiveness.
• Updating all prices on the system from foreign suppliers and submitting it to finance.
• Actively sourcing and onboarding reliable international suppliers and vendors into the company.
• Negotiated favourable rates with suppliers and vendors to secure advantageous terms.
• Performed risk assessments on potential contracts and agreements.
• Controlled the procurement budget and promoted a culture of long-term savings on procurement costs.
