Have the authority and responsibility to make operational decisions for SAAT in consultation with the customer airline with regard to unscheduled maintenance, to coordinate all activities in ORT and outstations to ensure the maximum efficiency for the operation and to ensure a continuous workflow after hours and on weekends.
Principal Accountabilities
Ensure all work performed by his team is done in accordance with laid down procedures and regulations.
Be innovative and proactive in the use of the customer and SAAT resources to reduce costs by continuous re-planning in the event of unscheduled occurrences.
Ensure total control of all operational aircraft by monitoring aircraft defects and deviations and instituting rectification action.
Monitor status of aircraft in SAAT that are in for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance by liaising with Production Control and notify the customer airline timeously of any potential disruption of the schedule.
Coordinate with hospital crews in maintenance for the timeous repair / rectification of any unscheduled maintenance in the hangar or on the Line.
Monitor and ensure MEL/GT16 limits are not exceeding and plan rectification timeously to avoid AOG's and / or delays.
Control / coordinate aircraft changes for hangar maintenance and actively plan aircraft with serious or potential serious defects into the nearest repair station where repairs / rectifications can be effected and notify all relevant departments.
Direct maintenance activities for unscheduled maintenance for all operational aircraft to meet / recover the customer schedule by using all SAAT resources or service providers.
Maintain effective communication / reporting system with all departments and other parties affecting SAAT.
Monitor all incoming communication and respond accordingly.
Register / scrutinize documentation and ensure that all dispensations and deviations are legal, safe and notify relevant department of operational effect.
Coordinate request for spares / assistance for Line Stations.
Coordinate maintenance functions after normal working hours.
Ensure records / documentation are maintained accurately and current
Assume control of AOG situations and delegate a required.
Assist with issuing of interim stamps after hours.
Coordinate the notifications to respective parties of Air Directives, Alert Service Bulletins and Service Bulletins requirements after hours.
Coordinate all IOD incidents after hours as required and notify respective Managers of all emergencies.
After hours register all hire loan items in liaison with IATP and 24 Hour Desk and Line Stations. Check for spare availability and arrange required spare for replacement.
Qualifications & Experience
Passed an Aviation Trade Test in the Avionics or Mechanical trades with 10 years' experience (excluding period of Apprentice training) in maintenance of which 1 year must be in Line Maintenance

Have 36 months experience as an appointed Coordinator - Operations
Must have obtained Type II shop certification.
Knowledge and Skills
In-depth knowledge of SAAT QMP and Regulatory Authorities Rules and Regulations (e.g. FAA, JAA, SACAA and EASA).
Good knowledge of SAAT as an organization.
Must be computer literate - MS Office, AMOS
