Maragon Olympus, a Christ-centered, parallel-medium school located in Pretoria East, is seeking a dynamic, passionate, and experienced individual to lead and manage our sports department. The Head of Sport / Sports Co-ordinator will play a vital role in the strategic planning, development, and implementation of the school's sports programme across all phases. This role requires strong leadership, organisational skills, and a deep commitment to holistic learner development through sport and physical education.

Key Responsibilities:



Leadership & Strategic Planning:



+ Develop and implement a comprehensive sports strategy aligned with the school's vision and values.
+ Oversee and manage all sports codes and extra-mural physical activities.
+ Promote a culture of participation, teamwork, sportsmanship, and excellence.

Administration & Co-ordination:



+ Plan and manage the annual sports calendar, including internal and external fixtures, tournaments, and festivals.
+ Co-ordinate transportation, referees, venues, and logistics for all sporting events.
+ Maintain accurate records of fixtures, results, and participation levels.
+ Manage sports inventories, uniforms, and equipment.

Staff Management & Development:



+ Lead and support the team of sports coaches and assistants.
+ Facilitate training sessions and mentoring for coaches.
+ Ensure clear communication and collaboration among staff involved in sport.

Learner Development:



+ Identify and nurture sporting talent across the school.
+ Encourage learner participation in various sports codes.
+ Organise trials, team selections, and training sessions.
+ Support learners in achieving balance between academics and sport.

Parent & Community Engagement:



+ Communicate regularly with parents regarding team selections, events, and schedules.
+ Represent the school at inter-school meetings and sporting bodies.
+ Build relationships with community sports clubs and organisations.

Health, Safety & Compliance:



+ Ensure all sporting activities are conducted in a safe and inclusive environment.
+ Oversee first-aid protocols and risk assessments related to sport.
+ Ensure compliance with relevant sporting regulations and codes of conduct.

Minimum Requirements:



A recognised teaching qualification or relevant degree in Sports Management / Physical Education. Minimum 5 years' experience in a school sports environment, preferably with leadership responsibilities. Excellent organisational, administrative, and communication skills. Proven ability to lead a team and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with learners, staff, and parents. Passion for sport and learner development. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and sports scheduling software. Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel with teams. SACE registration

Preferred Attributes:



Experience in coaching multiple sports codes. Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills. Ability to handle pressure and manage challenging parental expectations. * Commitment to the ethos and values of Maragon Olympus.
