Core Description

Responsible for coordinating multiple virtual teams ensuring the successful Design, Development & Support of Telecommunications products, services or customer specific solutions for all market segments. It involves setting up interfaces and coordinating the efforts between various technical and non-technical divisions from across the entire service delivery value chain and at various reporting levels. It includes the detailed design and development of fully managed and integrated customer specific communication solutions. Expert knowledge of Fixed networks, Mobile networks, IP networks, ME networks, Fixed and Mobile Access network technologies, Broadband NGN infrastructures, Transmission and Optical transport technologies, Cloud architectures & technologies, ICT systems and associated IT FAB systems and processes that would be applicable. New development requirements may originate from any Marketing Product House (i.e. Wholesale, Retail Business, Consumer, Mobile, DCO etc.) or alternatively from the Infrastructure/ Networks organization of the business. Requirements are typically in the form of an MSD (Market Service Description) or CRD (Customer Requirements Document).

Job Responsibilities

• The successful deployment of relevant products, services or customer specific solutions to meet customer, business & strategic objectives.
• The highest level of technical support (Tier-3) on all designed products, services and solutions.
• The continued enhancement and improvement of designed products, services and solutions.
• The end-to-end technical design specification of the product, service or solution, which is well documented and approved across the delivery value chain.

Low Level Design (40%)

Required Certification

Qualifications

Relevant 3 year degree/ diploma in Telecommunications, or Engineering (at least NQF level 6)
Experience

5 years relevant experience in telecoms or ICT.

Experienced in Design, Development, Testing & Support of Telecommunications products, services or customer specific solutions for all market segments.
Special Requirements

In-depth experience in Technical Product Development within an ICT or Telecoms environment - Prepared to work long hours.
Valid driver's license - Excellence in communicating and presenting complex information to technical and business partners, both verbally and in written form.
Comments

This position will suit young and upcoming Electrical Engineers or Computer Scientists that have an afinity for Technical Product research and development, which includes setup, configuration and testing of IP/MPLS networks and services.
