Job Summary
To deliver and ensure statutory tax compliance for a specific company or specific tax discipline within the business and provide tax advice where appropriate.
Reporting:Quarterly reporting through consolidation of all entities rolling up into ABSA Bank Group Limited (consolidated) as well as AAGL consolidated
Providing tax disclosure for ABSA Bank Group Limited (consolidated) as well as AAGL consolidated Monitoring and consolidation of future tax relief and providing disclosure for Annual Financial Statement purposes
Advisory:Provide advice on day to day income tax matters as and when required.
Attend and assist with tax related queries received from business.
Manage external professional service providers on tax matters when applicable.
Compliance:Tax accounting of AAGL and its subsidiaries, as well as the Absa Bank subsidiaries with the view to assess the Effective tax rate (ETR).
Complete and/or review and assist with the lodgement of tax returns (annual income tax and provisional tax) with regards to the portfolio of companies.
This includes CFC returns and provisional tax returns where applicable. o Ensure withholding taxes are effectively managed and tax credits appropriately treated. o
Update database with payments made to tax authorities and monitor tax status of portfolio. o Support African subsidiaries (BBM & NBC) with tax issues.
Assist and support business with compliance related matters (e.g. Tax Clearance Certificates etc.)
Assist with tax forecasts.
Attend to SARS queries and assist with VDP's. o Maintain and enhance the existing relationship with SARS personnel
Training:Provide training and tax presentations to the relevant business areas on the current tax legislation and updates on changes to the legislation.
Innovation: Developing and delivering innovative tax planning ideas when required.
Develop good working relationships with the tax teams within the group.
Manage and develop relationships with the key business areas and the group.
Manage and review tax systems, procedures and policies when necessary
Minimum RequirementsB.Com (Hons) + Relevant Tax Qualification i.e. M.Com Tax, Advanced VAT Diploma or H.Dip Tax.
3 years relevant experience minimum in corporate or audit firm. Preferably Financial Services related.
