Purpose of the Job The Specialised Security Manager is responsible for planning, developing, and executing the tactical security plans, policies, and procedures specific to Shoprite Operational requirements. This involves coordinating Tactical Security teams and Strike & Riot response units to safeguard people, assets, and information against threats and risks for the Shoprite Group. This role leverages specialised security operations experience to plan and manage security incidents, whilst ensuring overall security compliance for third-part security teams with training and legislative requirement to ensure operational readiness to critical incidents.

Job Objectives
Specialised Security Planning and Response:
Develop and implement a comprehensive security plan tailored to the unique needs and challenges of specialised security operations within the Shoprite Group.
Evaluate the feasibility of deploying Tactical and Strike & Riot teams to tackle emergency situations.
Develop and maintain incident response and crisis management plans for specialized teams, coordinating with internal and external resources for handling security incidents.
Team Coordination, Training and Operational Readiness Assessment:
Direct and coordinate specialised security teams responsible for responding to high-risk incidents, such as Tactical Security teams for resolving high-threat scenarios and Strike & Riot response units for managing civil unrest and protests.
Provide guidance and/or input to Strike and Riot team training requirements (i.e., regular training exercises, drills, equipment maintenance, etc.) for third-party security Trainers and assess training standards to ensure the teams are well equipped to handle crisis situations.
Risk Assessment, Auditing and Compliance:
Identify and assess potential security risks, vulnerabilities, and threats associated within the business, and develop mitigation plans that may involve Tactical or Strike & Riot team response.
Ensure that third party service providers comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and legal requirements for security measures and practices.
Conduct regular security audits and assessments to identify areas of improvement and ensure compliance.
Identify and assess potential security risks and threats associated within the business and develop mitigation plans both in the operational (Tactical and Strike & Riot Teams) and technical security environments. (CCTV, Burglar Alarm and Access Control) within the Shoprite Group.
Security Awareness:
Support a security awareness culture within the organisation, educating employees about their role in maintaining a secure environment, even during high-stress incidents.



Qualifications Grade 12 / Matric Certificate
Registration with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA)
A recognised Close Protection Officer qualification



Experience +3 years of experience in security operations / specialised SAPS unit or similar environment, with a focus on specialised tactical and strike & riot operations/incidents
Strong knowledge of industry-specific regulations, security best practices, and tactics
Proficient in Microsoft 365 and relevant computer literacy programs
Driverxe2x80x99s License and ability travel for operational business purposes
Exposure to security technology and systems
Firearm competencies (i.e., handgun, self-loading rifle, and shot gun) for business security purposes



Knowledge and Skills Sound security operations management skills - Has a sound understanding of applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures for a secure and safe environment for the business. Able to evaluate the risk factors that could potentially affect the management of safety and security, as well as generate reports on these assessments. Skilled in analysing the security services provided by third-party organisations.
Excellent problem-solving skills xe2x80x93 Able to collect, organise and assimilate disparate, multiple and complex security threats or flaws within an environment to make tactical decisions.
High level of self-motivation and drive to meet and exceed on goals and expectations and engage and energise others to deliver on expectations. Comfortable taking decisions and dealing with a range of problem-solving challenges independently.
Detailed, organised and quality focused xe2x80x93 Has an affinity for detail, structure and efficiency, balancing planning, and execution. Is diligent and vigilantly watches over work processes, tasks and outputs to ensure accuracy while independently actioning and correcting any quality concerns.
