Special Needs Childcare & Support Assistant
:
We are seeking a caring and responsible individual to provide support for a 7-year-old boy who has been identified as a special needs child by the Department of Education. He has ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), and Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD).
The role will focus on maintaining structure, routine, and gentle guidance throughout the day in a supportive and patient manner.
Responsibilities:
Assist with daily routines and transitions.
Provide consistent structure to help manage behavior and attention.
Support sensory needs with understanding and patience.
Encourage positive coping strategies and emotional regulation.
Engage in play and learning activities as appropriate.
Communicate with parent(s) on progress, challenges, and achievements.
Requirements:
Preferably a student currently studying Child Therapy, Educational Psychology, Occupational Therapy, or a related field.
Previous experience with children, especially those with special needs, is advantageous.
Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting child development.
Ability to follow and maintain structured routines.
Job Types: Part-time, Temporary
Contract length: 4 months
Pay: Up to R3000,00 per month
Expected hours: 48 per week
Work Location: In person
