Spa Manager - 5?Star Boutique Farm Spa (Wellington, Western Cape)About the Role

We are creating a

5?star boutique spa

on a scenic farm in Wellington, Western Cape. The spa is currently in the

planning, design, and construction phase

, and we are seeking an exceptional

Spa Manager

to lead the project from concept to full operation.

This role is ideal for a visionary leader who thrives in a start?up environment and wants to shape a luxury wellness destination from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities1. Spa Planning, Design & Setup

Collaborate with the owner and project team on the

design, layout, and guest?flow experience

of the spa. Provide expert guidance on

treatment room design, hydrotherapy areas, relaxation zones, reception layout

, and back?of?house functionality. Research, source, and recommend all

equipment, furniture, decor, and professional product ranges

suitable for a 5?star boutique spa. Oversee procurement, supplier negotiations, and ensure all equipment meets luxury?spa standards. Assist in developing the

treatment menu

, service protocols, and signature experiences.

2. Pre?Opening Operations

Develop all

operational systems

, including booking processes, guest journey mapping, hygiene standards, and retail procedures. Create comprehensive

Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

for every aspect of spa operations. Establish partnerships with product houses, wellness brands, and training providers. Ensure full compliance with

health, safety, and industry regulations

.

3. Recruitment & Team Leadership

Recruit, interview, and appoint all spa staff, including: Therapists Receptionists Spa attendants Wellness specialists

Hire and mentor a capable Assistant Spa Manager

who will support daily operations and uphold the spa's standards. Build a strong, positive, and professional team culture rooted in: Respect Accountability Excellence Warm, guest?focused service Lead all staff training, performance management, scheduling, and development.

4. Daily Spa Management

Oversee all day?to?day operations of a

5?star boutique spa

. Maintain exceptional guest service and ensure consistent delivery of world?class treatments. Manage stock control, retail performance, and supplier relationships. Monitor treatment quality, therapist performance, and guest satisfaction. Uphold immaculate cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation throughout the spa.

5. Business & Financial Management

Manage budgets, cost control, and financial reporting. Track revenue, occupancy, retail sales, and profitability. Implement marketing strategies, promotions, and partnerships to grow the spa's visibility and reputation. Ensure the spa meets monthly and annual performance targets.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years' experience in spa management or senior spa leadership. Strong understanding of spa design, equipment, and luxury product ranges. Proven ability to recruit, train, and lead a high?performing team. Experience managing or opening a 4? or 5?star spa is highly advantageous. Excellent organizational, communication, and guest?service skills. Strong business acumen with experience in budgeting, reporting, and retail. Professional spa or wellness qualification. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage a project from concept to completion.
