Gibela Rail invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the Supplier Development Lead to be based in Nigel. The role reports to the Train Control Metier Manager (TCMM).

Supplier Development Lead (SDL)

Purpose of the Job:

  • He/she is responsible for the delivery of each software baseline according to the QCD requirements
  • He/She is responsible of SDE-MPU and SDE-DDU activities

Responsibilities and objectives:
  • Monitoring, Controlling and consolidating the software development baseline.
  • Organizes, leads the baseline reviews for the project he/she is in charge,
  • Manages the Risk Assessment and Mitigation Plan,
  • Reports the target to project Train Control baseline leader/PrEM.
  • Integration of Software Modules with various modules within TCMS subsystem like MPU, DDU etc & in-charge of Configuration management for TCMS Software activities.
  • Ensuring the overall performance of executable code loaded on target, for the project that he / she is leading.
  • Initiating and following-up with action plans to solve issues and/or improve results in projects.
  • Establish and share Return on Experience of his/her activities with Metier Manager and propose improvements on Software
  • Development process and tools defined by Metier Manager.
  • Integration of software modules with various modules within TCMS subsystem like DDU, MPU etc.
  • Contributing to the Generation of Quality Plan.
  • Managing Sub-contractors
  • He/she is member of CCB meetings
  • He/she is required to interact with internal customers to ensure that the solution provided satisfies their requirements.
  • The deployment and application of the standard TCMS Software Design and Validation processes on the project while maximizing the re-use of generic configurable software components
  • To write Interfaces Components Description (ICD) for software and equipment.
  • To deliver Function Detailed Description (FDD) of software functions.
  • To generate executable code to be loaded on the main controller (MPU/Multiple Processing Unit) and DDU (Driver's Display Unit) while assuring and maximizing the reuse of standard configurable software components.
  • To provide support during train integration and/or validation, upon request
  • Resolving and follow the open points of configuration management raised by the Quality Assurance of the TCMS Software
  • Management of CR on the functions and sub-systems in his/her scope: all NOK results in test reports related to a CR
  • To ensure proper management and traceability of the hardware and software configuration - including design tools and test benches (producing the release notes)
  • Initiates action plans to solve issues
  • Verifying complete validation of the software before delivery for train level testing
Business understanding and desired knowledge/experience

Minimum education required:
  • BSc. Engineering Computers, Electric/Electronic or Mechatronics
  • Registered or Registerable as a Professional Engineer with ECSA would be beneficial
Minimum experience required:
  • Hands-on development experience of software phases like requirement gathering, software development, hardware-software integration etc. with a minimum of 5 years' experience preferably in Railway or Automotive domain.
  • Experience in leading complete product life cycle of at least 2 projects (minimum of 2 years' experience)
  • Rolling stock functional engineer experience beneficial
  • Experience in electrical or electro-mechanical or automation (Programmable Logic Controller) engineering with minimum of 5 years' experience.
  • Hands-on experience in design & development in developing in IEC61131-3 software or using model-based development tools like Matlab / Simulink, Control Build etc
  • Knowledge of network topologies and interfaces for Serial, Ethernet, MVB or other industrial communication network.
