THE COMPANY:
This leading South African manufacturing company designs and produces packaging for some of the country's largest consumer and industrial brands. With multiple plants nationwide and strong in-house engineering teams, the business manages end-to-end packaging design, production, and sustainability through its own design and tooling capabilities. It delivers complete packaging solutions: from concept and mould design to production and distribution.
The technical environment is hands-on and data-driven, integrating software, automation, and production systems to support large-scale operations and continuous improvement across the group.
THE ROLE:
As the Mendix Software Developer, you will take ownership of customising and configuring Mendix applications to meet specific business and integration requirements across the group. You will design and implement user-friendly interfaces, workflows, and data models within the Mendix environment, developing microflows, widgets, and custom modules to extend the platform's functionality.
You will play a key role in ensuring that all Mendix solutions follow best practices in development, including security standards, performance optimisation, and accurate documentation and deployment. Working closely with project teams and business stakeholders, you will provide technical expertise on Mendix capabilities and guide the delivery of high-quality, scalable applications that drive process automation and operational efficiency.
Beyond hands-on development, you will also be responsible for creating and maintaining technical documentation, conducting training sessions for internal teams, and facilitating knowledge sharing to build reusable components and templates. It's an opportunity to take ownership of Mendix development within a technically complex environment and see the direct impact of your work on production efficiency, performance and daily operations across the group.
THE REQUIREMENTS:
Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
4+ years' experience as a Software Engineer, with a focus on low-code development.
Proven hands-on experience in Mendix Studio and Mendix Studio Pro, with the ability to design, build and maintain applications including microflows, data models and user interfaces.
Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and RESTful APIs.
Understanding of the software development lifecycle and agile practices.
Mendix Certification preferred.
