At Africa-Experience, we dont just sell tours, we craft once-in-a-lifetime travel experiences across Southern and East Africa. As we grow our direct-to-client business and elevate our brand presence globally, we are looking for an experienced, forward-thinking Social Media Strategist to lead our social media efforts across platforms.
This role is designed for a seasoned digital strategist with a proven ability to think long-term, build premium brand narratives, and execute content and campaigns that convert. You will take ownership of our social media channels with a strong focus on Instagram and Facebook and ensure they reflect the unique, high-quality experiences we offer.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Leadership

  • Design and execute a comprehensive social media strategy that supports brand awareness, community engagement, and lead generation across relevant platforms.
  • Define and track clear KPIs, using data-driven insights to adjust and optimise performance.
  • Ensure alignment between social media activity and broader marketing, sales, and business development goals.
Content Development & Campaign Execution
  • Lead the creation of high-quality, brand-aligned content in both visual and written formats.
  • Manage content calendars, storytelling themes, and publishing workflows to maintain consistency and engagement.
  • Plan, execute, and optimise paid social media campaigns (primarily on Meta platforms), including audience targeting, budget management, and performance analysis.
Community & Brand Engagement
  • Maintain a strong and consistent brand voice across platforms.
  • Engage actively with followers, respond to enquiries, and nurture community relationships.
  • Identify and manage strategic partnerships with influencers, tourism boards, and content creators aligned with our values and audience.
Performance Monitoring & Insights
  • Use tools such as Meta Business Suite and Google Analytics to track results and optimise strategy.
  • Create performance reports with actionable recommendations.
  • Stay informed on trends, algorithm changes, and platform innovations to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Experience: Minimum 5+ years in a professional social media role (brand-side or agency), with proven experience leading strategy and execution. Experience in travel, lifestyle, or premium consumer brands is a strong advantage.
  • Strategic Acumen: A deep understanding of social medias role in the customer journey, from brand discovery to conversion.
  • Executional Skillset: Hands-on expertise in content creation tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite), paid ad management, and scheduling platforms.
  • Analytical Mindset: Comfortable interpreting campaign data and applying insights to optimise creative and spend.
  • Creative & Visual Sensibility: Strong aesthetic awareness with the ability to produce or guide social-first content creation.
  • Organisational Strength: Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Language: Fluent in English; German is a strong asset.
  • Regional Affinity: Familiarity with Southern and East African travel destinations (e.g., South Africa, Namibia, Tanzania, Kenya, Botswana) is a plus.
