The Skills Development Facilitator will manage and coordinate skills development initiatives for Empoweryst and its clients. The role is highly client-facing and responsible for ensuring compliance with South African skills development legislation, SETA requirements, and BBBEE skills development elements, while delivering practical, value-adding training solutions to clients.
Key Responsibilities
Client Engagement & Relationship Management
Act as the primary point of contact for clients on all skills development matters
Conduct client needs analyses and skills audits
Advise clients on skills development strategies aligned to business goals and BBBEE requirements
Facilitate client meetings, workshops, and consultations (virtual and in-person)
Prepare and present progress reports and compliance updates to clients
Skills Development & Training Coordination
Develop and implement Workplace Skills Plans (WSPs) and Annual Training Reports (ATRs)
Coordinate and monitor training interventions (learnerships, skills programmes, internships, short courses)
Liaise with training providers, SETAs, and internal stakeholders
Ensure training records, attendance registers, and portfolios of evidence are accurate and up to date
SETA & Compliance Management
Register and manage clients with relevant SETAs
Ensure timely submission of WSPs, ATRs, and discretionary grant applications
Monitor legislative changes related to Skills Development and BBBEE
Conduct internal and client compliance audits where required
Support clients during SETA audits and verifications
BBBEE Skills Development Support
Align skills development initiatives to BBBEE scorecard requirements
Track and report on skills development spend and targets
Compile and maintain evidence files for BBBEE verification
Work closely with BBBEE consultants and verification agencies
Administration & Reporting
Maintain accurate client files and documentation
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for management and clients
Update internal systems and trackers with training and compliance data
Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of client information
Qualifications
Matric (Grade 12) - compulsory
Relevant tertiary qualification in one of the following fields:
o Human Resources Management
o Training & Development
o Skills Development / Learning & Development
o Industrial Psychology or related field
Qualified accredited Skills Development Facilitator (SDF) certification - essential
SETA-aligned training or facilitation certification (advantageous)
Minimum Requirements
3-5 years' proven experience in a Skills Development Facilitator (SDF) role
Demonstrated experience managing a portfolio of clients
Hands-on experience with SETA submissions (WSPs, ATRs, DG applications)
Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to client sites (advantageous)
Knowledge & Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of the Skills Development Act and SETA frameworks
Solid understanding of BBBEE Skills Development elements
Experience compiling and submitting WSPs and ATRs
Familiarity with learnerships, skills programmes, and discretionary grants
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Experience with HR or skills management systems is advantageous
