Job Description

Job Overview:

In our sofa manufacturing factory, upholsterers play a key role in assembling and finishing the furniture. This position requires attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to follow precise instructions to produce high-quality furniture pieces.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Read and interpret instructions:

Review and interpret detailed work instructions to understand the specifications for each furniture item.
2. Material Preparation:

Select and gather the necessary materials, including fabric, foam, or other frame components, based on the provided specifications. Inspect materials for quality and report any defects or discrepancies.
3. Responsibilities:

Padding and Cushioning: Apply foam, batting, or other cushioning materials to the sofa frame to ensure comfort and shape. Upholstering the Frame: Stretch, fit, and staple or tack fabric over the sofa frame, carefully aligning patterns and ensuring a tight, neat fit. Detail Work: Depending on the design. Finishing Touches: Inspect the final product for quality, ensuring seams are straight, fabric is taut, and no defects are present. Tool Use: Use a range of tools such as staple guns, hammers, and pneumatic tools.
4. Quality Control:

Conduct quality checks on upholstered items to ensure they meet design specifications and quality standards. Identify, report, and rectify any defects or imperfections in the process.
5. Work Area Maintenance:

Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of safety hazards. Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
6. Collaboration:

Work closely with other members of the production team, including designers, seamstresses, and finishers, to ensure seamless coordination in the furniture manufacturing process. Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding progress, challenges, and solutions.
7. Adherence to Safety Protocols:

Follow established safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe working environment. Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) and report any safety concerns.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in upholstery or a related field is beneficial. Proven experience or similar role in a manufacturing setting. Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and assembly machinery. Ability to read and interpret design drawings. Strong attention to detail and precision in craftsmanship. Good physical condition with the ability to lift, carry, and manipulate heavy materials. Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Working Conditions:

The role involves working in a manufacturing environment, often standing for extended periods. Protective gear may be required, and the work may include exposure to noise, dust, and other typical manufacturing conditions.
