The primary objective of this role is to serve as a Construction Site Agent, responsible for effectively coordinating and overseeing construction site operations. As a pivotal point of contact for both workers and supervisors, the successful candidate will be a key contributor to the successful completion of projects.
Requirements:
Diploma in Civil Engineering, Building, Construction or equivalent
5 - 6 years' experience in construction or civil industry
Registered with the SACPMP
Matric certificate
Code 8 Driver's License
Aptitude in math
Ability to communicate and report effectively
Proven experience as construction foreman
In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment and OSH guidelines
Understanding of electrical and hydraulic systems
Ability to read drawings, plans and blueprints
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in training new employees and helping them as they learn new tasks.
Giving clear directions to workers as to what needs to be done to avoid repetitive mistakes by the workers.
Making sure company rules are followed by staff members and applied consistently.
Ensure all site resource (labour, machinery, materials, sub-contractors etc) are effectively utilised and monitored to achieve timely completion of projects.
Maintain good relationships with clients and subcontractors.
Monitor subcontractor employee's performance against targets and bill of quantities.
Ensure claims for subcontractors are measured and done accurately.
Ensure the daily programming of all site works is performed in accordance with the project program.
Plan and review overall status of project(s) on an ongoing basis in conjunction with the Site Engineer and Contracts Manager.
Ensure the Project Manager is promptly provided with any relevant documentation received from either the client or authorities.
Take accurate records and measurements of work done on site and report it to site manager.
Identify and record any possible variations to the contract, ensuring the Project Manager / Contract Manager is promptly notified.
Ensure the Purchasing Officer /Logistics Officer is provided with sufficient notice when plant and equipment are free to go to another site.
Upon completion of task, ensure all appropriate hired in plant and equipment is promptly off hired.
Submit accurate plant and material sheets to the creditors and financial departments.
Ensure that clock cards are handed in to payroll / HR as per the agreed deadline.
Assist site manager in minimising costs and working according to bill of quantities.
Ensure jobs are completed on time.
Monitor labour performance according to set standard of expected timelines.
Evaluate quickest and easiest way to complete a job without sacrificing quality of the work being done.
Hold the weekly job site safety meeting and toolbox talks, record of it in the log for future references.
Monitor site compliance with Health and Safety.
Work with safety officers and safety reps.
Ensure safety file is in order.
Ensure tools are brought back from job sites (small tools/hand tools).
