SHEQ Controller
 Health and Safety
 Conduct regular inspections of equipment, facilities, and safety procedures to identify potential hazards, assess risk and develop mitigating strategies
 Oversee the maintenance and inspection of safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers, fire/smoke alert and suppression systems, emergency exits, and personal protective equipment (PPE)
 Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive safety program tailored to the specific hazards of the cold storage environment
 Provide training and education to employees on safety procedures, equipment operation, emergency protocols, accident reporting and relevant regulations
 Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, standards, and industry best practices
 Provide health & safety guidance to employees and manage mandatory safety training & certification
 Schedule H&S meetings and follow up to ensure that corrective measures are taken when reported
 Communicate emergency evacuation procedures and ensure evacuation preparedness and ensure employees are trained on how to respond to emergencies
 Investigate accidents, near misses, and incidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
 Manage hot works (e.g. welding, cutting, drilling, etc), implement SOPs & policies and ensure adherence and compliance by staff, contractors and suppliers
 Conduct regular site inspections and audits
 Promote a positive safety culture and manage safety standards (ISO 45001)
 Provide employees with appropriate PPE and manage compliance
 Conduct workplace accident investigations, coordinate Workmans Compensation claims, and manage all safety-related administrative requirements
 Develop and maintain emergency response plans, conduct drills, and ensure that employees are prepared to respond to emergencies
 Effectively communicate safety information to all stakeholders, including management, employees, and contractors
 Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training, incidents, and other relevant information
Environment
 Monitor and assess environmental impacts
 Develop and implement environmental management systems
 Promote sustainable practices
 Manage Environment standards (ISO 14001) to assist with implementing environmental management systems (ammonia, diesel, oils, flammable liquids & materials)
Quality
 Ensure that services meet quality standards
 Develop and implement quality control procedures
 Monitor and improve quality performance
 Facilitate and manage internal and external Safety, Health, Quality, Environmental, Industry-specific, and Regulatory audits, site inspections & assessments, and manage corrective measures
 Achieve and maintain all statutory & regulatory certifications and keep abreast of requirements
 Manage Quality standards (ISO 9001) for Global Gap Audits
 Attend to registrations for special markets
 Ensure document control, retain records of inspections and assessment findings and retain records of certification
Security Controller
 Security Systems Management
 Oversee and maintain security systems, such as access control and alarm systems
 Evaluate and implement appropriate security technologies
 Ensure compliance with security regulations and industry best practices
 Ensure that security procedures are implemented, enforced, and complied with, and monitor the duties of the security personnel
 Security Risk Management
 Identify and assess security risks and vulnerabilities
 Develop and implement security plans and procedures
 Manage security incidents and emergencies with assistance from relevant service providers
 Security Provider Management:
 Ensure that security personnel are competent and capable
 Manage security service provider
 Ensure compliance with relevant security regulations and industry standards
 Conduct security audits and inspections
 Liaise with law enforcement agencies if and where applicable
 Administration Management
 Procure PPE in accordance with the companys procurement policy
 Liaise with the finance department and relevant suppliers for invoices/statements and attend to queries
 Request purchase orders and payment approvals
 Ensure document control, retain accurate records and circulate various internal reports
 Manage all SHEQ-related administrative requirements
Minimum Requirements
 National Diploma in Safety Management or National Diploma in Environmental Health
 Minimum SAMTRAC or NEBOSH IGC
 ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 will be an advantage Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment Skills (HIRA)
 In-depth knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act No. 85 of 1993 and regulations
 Proven 3 years+ experience in a similar role
 Experience in a cold storage or warehouse environment
 Experience with working with forklifts and heavy machinery
 Experience with ammonia plants will be an advantage
 Experience in a high-volume email, high-energy, deadline-driven environment
 Demonstrate a good work ethic, strong values, positive attitude and personal integrity
 Stable work history (at least 3 years with one employer) with a proven attendance track record
 Accuracy, high attention to detail with good report writing skills
 Proficient in reading, speaking, and writing English, with good presentation skills
 Efficient, well organised, strong administrative skills and able to manage pressure
 Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
 Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and take ownership & accountability
